Enemies of Reason Ep.2 (3 of 5)

Part Two – The Irrational Health Service Prof Richard Dawkins looks at how health has become a battleground between reason and superstition. A third of us now spend a total of over 1.6 billion a year on superstitious alternative remedies, but 80% of them have never been subjected to properly conducted trials.

how could scientists hijack the word they created? that’s like stealing something that is already yours, chopra is an arrogant idiot himself

ImaginaryMdA July 10, 2010 at 7:33 am

This was exactly what my mother once told me,
that new science i.e. quantum theory could put mind over matter,
thank god for a scientific method,
to know they’re wrong,
I’m now so ashamed of my use of homeopathy,
luckely my money was not wasted,

@RehueHolt You are just another retard on the interent.

RehueHolt July 10, 2010 at 8:54 am

@darkfur35
lol when you are a scientific doctor and one of the worlds leading scientist you can tell that to Dawkins. Until then your just a retard on the internet.

zh1412 July 10, 2010 at 9:27 am

@darkfur35 ….. wow thats straight up bias…

darkfur35 July 10, 2010 at 10:02 am

MST3KLives July 10, 2010 at 10:18 am

2:30 Get him, Dawkins!

soccerphyico July 10, 2010 at 10:52 am

Is homeopathy really funded by the British government? That would be simply insane and ridiculous and that should be changed.

jonpaulmoen July 10, 2010 at 11:06 am

Deepak = snake oil salesman

MoonPhase94 July 10, 2010 at 11:36 am

I am so, so, so pissed off that my tax is paying for people to get cured by water. Like so many others I’m fucking struggling moneywise, the whole country is in goddam debt, yet we’re paying for this nonsense. Fucking disgusting.

audio out of sync by about 3 or 4 seconds

libertarianjury July 10, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Homeopathy = fucking insanity

trooperJac July 10, 2010 at 1:07 pm

This is the best scam ever.

Online you can buy a homeopathy first aid kit for £50. 40 odd small bottles of water at just £50 – I shit you not!

TharosTheDragon July 10, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Ten to the sixtieth power water molecules. Isn’t the amount of atoms in the universe only like ten to the eighty-second?

johnnyd101 July 10, 2010 at 2:52 pm

is this really happening??? no. Avogadro constant 6.022 *10^23. modern healthcare centre hilarious.

gr8malboski July 10, 2010 at 3:19 pm

jeanfou1 July 10, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Pinch yourself harder, Doc.

jeanfou1 July 10, 2010 at 3:56 pm

I love that Chopra thinks real scientists have highjacked quantum theory. Wow. Didn’t they discover it?!?

HellesBringer July 10, 2010 at 4:21 pm

Deepak Copra for PM!

abunghao July 10, 2010 at 5:11 pm

@troyatwork
not Fineman, it’s Feynman. BTW a Great physicist. What he means is ‘Quantum Theory’ is tough to understand and not yet fully developed, so don’t say that u understand the theory. it would be false for anybody to say that he/she has fully understood the theory. very different from the ‘circular logic’ used in Upanishads/hindu philosophy. please don’t mix up the two. dawkins is actually trying to show the opposite of what u r saying.

HaT223 July 10, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Oh those fundamentalist scientist discovering quantum mechanics and such.

WasMilkABadChoice July 10, 2010 at 6:44 pm

Chopra sounds like the king Lemur from Madagascar.

DarkDDexter July 10, 2010 at 7:35 pm

@tallsmile28 Not even close…Snake Oil might actually have some genuine benefits. Chopra’s quantum bullshit on the other hand…

24erayfikri69 July 10, 2010 at 7:49 pm

chopra should not fly, drive, use tv, computer etc. chopra is full of shit. only science can stop argument through evidence and proof!

Nalae1978 July 10, 2010 at 8:16 pm

@sgpquek: Sadly, you are mistaken – my mother-in-law, a woman who actually is a pharmacist with an university degree, believes in astrology, “planet essences” (don´t ask), Bach Flowers, Feng Shui, helping archangels – and God, of course. She even sells much of this stuff in a PHARMACY. Lots of people pay for it. And I live in Germany…:-). Stupidity is quite international…
